Product Overview

Product Overview

Sagiant Piping Industries manufactures sockolets (socket-weld branch outlets) in carbon steel, low-temperature steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, duplex and nickel alloys to MSS SP-97 and ASME B16.11. A sockolet provides an integrally reinforced 90° socket-weld branch connection from a run pipe, with a contoured base matched to the run OD, in run sizes 1/2" to 36" and branch 1/8" to 4" in Class 3000, 6000 and 9000, with EN 10204 3.1/3.2 certificates, PMI, NDT and IGC testing.

Manufacturing Process & Process Notes

Sockolets are closed-die forged with a contoured base profiled to the run-pipe OD (per MSS SP-97) and a socket bore (per ASME B16.11). The base is welded to the run pipe; the branch pipe is inserted into the socket and fillet welded — combining a reinforced branch with a leak-tight socket-weld joint for small-bore high-pressure connections.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a sockolet?

A forged branch-outlet fitting with a socket-weld branch bore and a contoured base welded to the run pipe — a self-reinforced branch with a leak-tight socket-weld joint.

What is the difference between a sockolet and a weldolet?

A sockolet has a socket-weld branch end (pipe inserted and fillet welded) for small-bore lines; a weldolet has a butt-weld branch end for larger branches.

What classes are available?

Class 3000, 6000 and 9000 per ASME B16.11 for the socket branch bore.

What grades do you supply?

A105 carbon, A350 low-temp, A182 alloy/stainless/duplex and B564 nickel alloys.
