Vision-Panel Doors
Overview
Sagiant Piping Industries supplies vision-panel doors — single- and double-leaf steel doors fitted with glazed vision panels for hospitals, cleanrooms, commercial and fire-compartment applications. Leaves are built in galvanized/CRCA or stainless 304/316 skins over a honeycomb core (non-rated) or a rockwool/mineral core (fire-rated). Glazing is selected by function rather than appearance: Georgian-wired, ceramic, toughened and laminated glass each perform differently, and toughened or laminated glass is not automatically fire-rated. Where a fire rating is required, the glass, leaf, frame, aperture, beads, fixings, glazing tapes, setting blocks and hardware must form a complete tested doorset — equal minute ratings on individual parts do not prove compatibility. Safety glazing is classified for impact to EN 12600; fire resistance is stated separately as integrity (E), insulation (I) and radiation control to BS 476 Part 22, EN 1634-1 or UL 10C.

Frequently Asked Questions
What glazing options are used in vision-panel doors, and are they interchangeable?
Georgian-wired, ceramic, toughened and laminated glass are all used, but they are not interchangeable — each serves a different function. Fire glazing is selected for fire performance, toughened and laminated for safety and impact, and wired glass for its traditional role. The correct glass is chosen by the opening's fire, impact and safety requirement.
Can a fire-rated vision-panel door just use fire glass matched to the door rating?
No. The glass, leaf, frame, aperture, beads, fixings, glazing tapes and sealants, setting blocks and hardware must form a complete approved (tested) assembly. Equal minute ratings on individual parts do not prove compatibility — only the configuration tested as a doorset is valid.
Are toughened or laminated glazing automatically fire-rated?
No. Toughened glass (EN 12150) and laminated glass improve safety and impact resistance but are not fire-resistant unless they are a fire-rated glazing type tested within the doorset. Equally, fire-rated glass is not automatically impact-safe or safety glazing.
How is the safety and impact performance of the glazing classified?
Safety glazing is classified for impact to EN 12600. Fire resistance is stated separately as integrity (E), insulation (I) and radiation control, to BS 476 Part 22, EN 1634-1 or UL 10C — these standards are not interchangeable, so the specified basis should be confirmed.
Can large, round or full-height vision panels be supplied?
Yes, within the glazing system's approved dimensional scope. Aperture size and shape affect fire and impact performance, so large or non-standard panels are confirmed against the tested or approved limits for the chosen system before supply.
Which standards apply for Indian projects?
For India, fire check door requirements are commonly referenced to IS 3614 (2021 and amendments), alongside BS 476 Part 22 or EN 1634-1 where specified. The governing standard, rating and documentation basis should be confirmed in the enquiry.
