Shaft & Riser Access Doors
Overview
Sagiant Piping Industries supplies shaft and riser access doors for service shafts and electrical, plumbing and HVAC risers — single- and double-leaf steel doors in galvanised/CRCA or stainless 304/316, with small hinged or removable access panels for concealed valves and meters. Fire-rated models use a mineral-wool (rockwool) core and intumescent and smoke seals, in 60, 90 and 120-minute classes; a rating applies to a complete tested or assessed doorset, not a core alone, and BS 476-22 / EN 1634-1 results are not interchangeable. Lift-shaft maintenance access is a separate product; we supply qualified lift landing doors only where explicitly offered. Non-rated access products are kept distinct from fire-rated models.

Available Forms, Sizes & Range
Sizes below are indicative and tied to each model and rating; a door size is not scaled to a panel or vice versa. Share opening size, fire rating and frame type (flush / rebated) for the riser or shaft.
| Item | Indicative size | Leaf thickness | Reference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single-leaf shaft door | 600–1200 mm W x 2000–2400 mm H | 45–54 mm leaf | BS 476 / EN 1634-1 (rated models) |
| Double-leaf shaft door | 1200–1800 mm W x to 2400 mm H | 45–54 mm leaf | BS 476 / EN 1634-1 (rated models) |
| Access panel | 300 x 300 to 600 x 600 mm | Hinged / removable | Rating per model |
Frequently Asked Questions
What are shaft and riser access doors used for?
They give secure access to vertical MEP service voids — electrical, plumbing and HVAC risers — and to concealed valves and meters via small access panels. Lift-shaft maintenance access is a separate product with its own requirements; a maintenance hatch is not a lift landing-door system, and we supply lift landing doors only where explicitly offered and qualified.
What fire ratings are available?
Fire-rated models are offered in 60, 90 and 120-minute classes. A rating applies to a complete tested or assessed doorset (report, classification, size, wall, hardware and seals), not to a mineral-wool core on its own, and BS 476-22, EN 1634-1 and UL results are not interchangeable. Non-rated access products are supplied and labelled separately.
Is every access panel fire-rated?
No. A fire rating belongs to a specific tested configuration and mounting orientation — a wall-rated panel is not automatically approved for a ceiling, floor, other wall type or different anchors. Each panel's rating, construction and permitted mounting is confirmed per model.
Which standards apply, including in India?
BS 476-22 or EN 1634-1 for fire resistance (results not interchangeable) and EN 1634-3 or applicable leakage testing for smoke. For Indian projects, IS 3614:2021 and its current amendments are assessed, including the updated fire-test reference (IS 17518 Part 1); listing a standard does not by itself prove a BIS licence. EN 81-58 covers lift landing-door fire testing and is not a universal requirement for ordinary riser doors.
What materials and finishes are used?
Galvanised / CRCA or stainless 304/316 skins over a mineral-wool (rockwool) fire core on rated models, or a non-rated core on access-only products. Finishes are brushed stainless (No.4) or polyester powder coat within the approved coating systems available.
What sizes do you supply?
Single and double-leaf doors and small access panels, each within its model's size limits — a door report is not scaled down to a panel, or a panel report up to a large door, without permitted application evidence. We confirm the exact opening, leaf configuration and rating per project.
